ClimateSmart Program

California Family Foods works hand in hand with PG&E to implement energy saving plans throughout our operations. As a participant in PG&E's ClimateSmartTM program, we balance our entire facility's greenhouse gas emissions through energy and environmental conservation, restoration and protection projects to address climate change and reduce our carbon footprint.

Current ClimateSmart projects in California involve coastal redwood forestland and dairy manure methane capture: Big River and Salmon Creek Forest and the Garcia River Forest carbon projects operated by The Conservation Fund on the North Coast of California, the Lompico Headwaters Forest Project operated by the Sempervirens Fund in the Santa Cruz Mountains, and a dairy manure methane capture near Bakersfield operated by California Bioenergy. In addition, we work with local agricultural by-product agencies to make sure that all of the rice by-products produced at the mill enter the supply chain where they can be used for everything from livestock feed to fuel in co-generation utility plants.

ClimateSmart

California Family Foods is working to cut energy use at peak times and reduce our energy usage overall. These initiatives help us save in three vital ways: save on energy, save on costs and help save the environment.
